Indian passport holders fly from India (Delhi/Mumbai/Ahmedabad/Bengaluru, etc.) to Kathmandu. China Group Visa and Tibet Travel Permits are processed in Kathmandu. Then a 13-day overland yatra via Kerung → Saga → Lake Mansarovar → Darchen → Dirapuk → Zutulpuk with a 3-day Kailash Kora (~52 km).

14-Day Overland Itinerary

Arrive from India; airport pickup, hotel check-in, briefing & equipment check.

Receive you at Kathmandu-TIA airport and transfer to Hotel in Kathmandu. Collecting passport and visa form to apply your Tibet/China Paper group visa. Overnight at Hotel

Breakfast and tour around Pashupatinath Temple and Boudha Stupa. Prepare for Kailash Tour.

Breakfast, take a private vehicle drive towards Syabrubesi, which takes around 6 hours. The road is not good but full of scenery. Stroll around Syabrubsi and observe their lifestyle. Take rest as you need to start your walking journey.

We will board on a Tourist Bus after breakfast and begin our journey along the black-topped road to the freshly opened friendship bridge at the Nepal-Tibet border. In around 2 hours, we will arrive in Kerung, Tibet’s first village. Walk around and enjoy the surrounding.

Today you will have rest for acclimatization in Gyirong. Walking tour around the Kerung village and have some yoga.

Drive through the high hills on a nice black-topped road to Saga. The path climbs up and down the Thong La and La Lung pass before to Saga. Along the route, we’ll visit Lake Peikutso and the Tibetan people’s traditional yak and sheep grazing techniques. Guesthouse for the night.

Drive to the world’s highest freshwater lake after breakfast. The holy lake of Mansarovar looks greenish-blue in color, the resting place of Lord Vishnu’s. Kailash, Gurula-Mandala, and Rakshas tal surrounds Mansarovar Lake. The Rawana created Rakshasa Tal, which is why the villagers believe the water is poisoned.

Immerse yourselves in the colors of religion by visiting sacred lake of Mansarovar. You will perform a few rituals before heading to Darchen. The town is located directly in front of Mt. Kailash, which is considered sacred. Overnight at Darchen

Breakfast and drive to Tarboche, beginning point of Kailash Parikrama. Tarboche is home to Yamadwar, a gateway of death god. Trek for 5 hours covering a distance of 16 km to Derapuk, which sits in front of Mt. Kailash’s north face. Beautiful views of the Gurula-Mandala, Ape, Kamet, and other high peaks are seen.

The longest and most difficult day of the trip. Wake up early morning, breakfast and continue trek towards Shiva-Tsal and Drolma La Pass and descending steeply to the Lham-chu Khir River’s banks, lunch and continue trek to Zuthulpuk, visit miracle Cave with Milerepa foot print if you have time.

Visit Milarepa cave, and breakfast, walk for 3-4 hours to the end of Kailash trek and drive to Darchen, lunch and return drive to Saga.

A leisurely driving journey back to Kerung. Spend free time and relaxing. Overnight at Kerung

We will then drive back to Kathmandu crossing Nepal Tibet Border. Yolo Hike will organize the farewell dinner at a Nepalese cultural restaurant. Stroll around Kathmandu valley or Thamel at night.

We will drop you at the international airport in Kathmandu for your onward journey home. Tour ends.

Drive Kora/Trek Acclimatization Visa/Prep

Meals & Hydration

  • Vegetarian meals (B/L/D): hot, simple meals daily in Tibet; packed lunches during the Kora.
  • Snacks: basic snacks/tea/coffee; you may carry personal trail snacks.
  • Hydration: aim 3–4 L/day; hot water provided regularly.

Money & ATMs

  • Currency in Tibet: Chinese Yuan (CNY) is used on-route.
  • Exchange: Convert INR→CNY / USD→CNY in Kathmandu before departure (we’ll guide you).
  • ATMs: Sparse/unreliable in rural Tibet; carry sufficient cash for personal expenses.

Optional Experiences (Weather/Authority Dependent)

  • Mansarovar Parikrama (eco-bus): drive circuit points for views/rituals.
  • Charan-Sparsh Hike: additional ~10 km from Dirapuk (6–7 hrs round-trip) to North Face viewpoint.
